The Beloved Brenda From The Beverly Hills 90210 Series Has Sad News To Announce

The star from Beverly Hills and Charmed doesn’t live an easy life. On the contrary, behind the scenes she’s been waging a very hard battle.

Shannen Doherty’s eight years of battling with breast cancer has been very difficult for her.

She updated her condition in a recent Instagram photo, writing, “Early morning doctors visit for scans.”

With bleary eyes. My hair was a mess, but the fresh bandage wraps brightened my day! #cancerslayer,” she captioned a selfie with her pink heart-patterned bandages.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2015 after discovering a lump in her breast. She was given hormone therapy but eventually needed a single mastectomy (a surgical operation to remove a breast), chemo and radiation.

And to those of you reading this now, lots of women have breast lumps, and most breast lumps are not cancerous. However, if you find changes in your breast that are not normal for you, it’s best to see a GP as soon as possible. This is because it’s important to rule out breast cancer.

Shannon Doherty received great news in 2017 when her cancer went into remission. Remission means that the signs and symptoms of your cancer are reduced. Remission can be partial or complete. Unfortunately for the beautiful actress the cancer reappeared in February 2020 as stage 4 cancer. The terrible illness has spread to other parts of her body as well.

Stage IV Cancer means that has spread to other organs or areas of your body. This stage is also referred to as metastatic or advanced cancer.

More than 150,000 breast cancer survivors in the United States are living with metastatic breast cancer, according to the CDC.

It’s well known that stage IV cancer is the least curable, but thanks to research, advancement of medicine and science, the lifespan of those diagnosed with the disease has increased substantially.

Last year, Doherty appeared in two TV movies, List of a Lifetime and Dying to Belong, to help her get through these difficult years of cancer treatments, radiation, chemo and all the struggle she had to endure.

The actress took her illness to social media to spread awareness about the disease.

She posted a picture on Instagram with this caption:

“For breast cancer awareness month, I’d like to share more of my own personal journey from my first diagnosis to my second. Is it all pretty? NO but it’s truthful and my hope in sharing is that we all become more educated, more familiar with what cancer looks like. I hope I encourage people to get mammograms, to get regular checkups, to cut thru the fear and face whatever might be in front of you. In 2015 I got diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a mastectomy and did chemo and radiation. I had many nose bleeds from the chemo. Not sure if any of you experienced this. I also was beyond tired. I cheered myself up by putting on funny pajamas that my friend Kristy gave me. Did they actually cheer me up? Yes!! Lol. I looked ridiculous and in that ridiculousness, I was able to laugh at myself. Finding humor helped get me thru what seemed impossible. I hope we all find humor in the impossible.

We all pray and hope that she will get through the harsh times and win the battle once and for all.
